I’m Ellie, a Chartered Certified Accountant based in the Shropshire Hills, and the founder of Indie Financials.

Indi is our golden retriever, loyal, clever, and always ready for an adventure.

She’s also the inspiration behind the name. Like her, we like to keep things friendly, grounded, and dependable.

And, of course, I love working with independent people, creatives, consultants, landlords, makers, and small business owners doing their own thing.

I work entirely in the cloud and am experienced with a range of accounting software including Xero, QuickBooks and FreeAgent — and happy to work with whatever system suits you best.

I know how overwhelming accounts can feel, especially when you're juggling everything else. My job is to help take that off your plate so you can get on with doing what you're great at.

A Bit About Me

My path into accountancy wasn't exactly straightforward. I started my first accounting job at 18, took a detour into nursing, had two children along the way, and built up over 25 years of hands-on accountancy experience across all kinds of businesses and people.

I qualified as an ACCA accountant in 2021. Getting there after quite a journey felt like a proper milestone.

I set up Indie Financials because I wanted to work directly with people I can actually help. Small businesses and individuals who just want someone reliable, approachable and straightforward in their corner.
